Infinite Horizon - Perspective Bending in After Effects

Infinite Horizon is an After Effects template I created to convert landscape footage into custom, 3D perspective-bending scenes. The examples in the demo above showcase the presets from the template. When a user drops in their landscape footage, the presets bend, curve, or warp the footage in a unique way, and converts it to a 3D scene that the user can animate their camera to move around in, in three dimensions. Since all of the effects are procedural, everything can be customized, including the angle and position of bends, lighting, depth of field, and camera movements. The bending is achieved through After Effects' built-in distortion effects, and the 3D capabilities are achieved mostly through projection mapping.

Perspective bending was popularized by the movie "Inception", and has since inspired a number of Photoshop tutorials on how to bend or curve landscape photos. This project brings that concept to 4K video, and provides customizable presets, allowing a variety of footage to be used.
